How we price a garage door repair

No two doors are the same, so we do not publish a number that would only be wrong for yours. You get one fixed, fair price on site before anything is touched, and there is no call-out fee whether you go ahead or not.

Why there is no price list

The same repair is genuinely a different job from one garage to the next. A torsion spring for a light single steel door is not the spring a heavy insulated double needs. A gear kit for a current opener is not the same part, or the same price, as one for a fifteen-year-old head that has been out of production for a decade.

Parts pricing moves too. Suppliers change, stock runs short, and some components for older brands are now made in small runs. Access matters as well. A steep hills driveway, a tight laneway or a high ceiling all change how long a job takes.

Publishing a headline figure would mean either quoting high enough to cover every case, or quoting low and revising it in your driveway. We would rather not do either. We look at the door, tell you what it needs, and give you the best price we can do the job properly for.

Times are indicative for standard residential doors. The price for your job depends on the door, the parts it takes and what we find when we look, which is exactly why we quote in person, and why looking costs you nothing.

What makes a job cost more

  • Door size and weight

    A wider or heavier door needs bigger springs, sometimes a second technician, and more time to balance properly.

  • Torsion springs replaced in pairs

    When one goes the other is the same age. Replacing both costs more today and much less over the next two years.

  • Access and height

    Steep driveways, tight side clearances and high ceilings all add time, common in the hills suburbs.

  • Obsolete or specialist parts

    Older openers and discontinued panel profiles cost more to source, and sometimes need a whole unit rather than a component.

  • Cascading wear

    A door run on failing springs for months often needs cables and rollers too. We quote all of it up front rather than find it halfway through.

  • After-hours call-outs

    Evening and public holiday work carries a surcharge, quoted to you before we dispatch.

Questions about cost

Do you really charge no call-out fee?
Yes. There is no charge for coming out, diagnosing the fault or quoting the job, in any suburb we cover. You only pay if you approve the repair and we carry it out. Decline the quote and you owe nothing, even if the technician has already stripped the cover off the opener.

Can you come out today?
Usually, yes. Same-day service is what we are built around, and most calls placed before about 2pm are attended the same afternoon. Ring early for the best chance of a morning slot. If the day is genuinely full we will tell you straight away rather than leave you waiting.

How fast can you get here?
From our Morley base most Perth suburbs are within a 30-minute drive, so a typical arrival is one to three hours after your call. Closer suburbs such as Bayswater, Dianella and Noranda are often quicker. You get a real arrival window on the phone and a courtesy call before the van turns up.

How much does a typical garage door repair cost?
It depends on the door and on what has failed. A remote re-code is a very different job from a torsion spring changeover or a new opener, and the same repair costs differently on a light single door than on a heavy insulated double. Rather than publish a figure that turns out to be wrong for your door, we look at it, tell you what it needs and give you a fixed price before any work starts. We keep it as keen as we honestly can, and there is no call-out fee, so finding out costs you nothing.

Do you repair all brands of garage door?
Yes. We service B&D, Merlin, Steel-Line, Gliderol, Chamberlain, Centurion, Danmar, Automatic Technology and every other brand common in Perth homes. Springs, cables, rollers and tracks are largely generic, and we carry replacement openers and control boards that suit older units no longer supported by the manufacturer.

Can you replace just the motor, or does the whole door need replacing?
Almost always just the motor. The opener is a separate unit bolted to the ceiling, so a failed board, gear set or capacitor can be repaired or the whole opener swapped while your existing door stays put. A door itself is only beyond repair when the panels or track are badly deformed.

Is a broken garage door spring dangerous?
Yes, genuinely. A torsion spring holds enough stored energy to break bones, and the winding bars can strike hard if they slip. Do not attempt to unwind, adjust or replace one, and do not try to force the door up by hand. Leave it shut, keep children clear and phone us.

Do you do emergency after-hours call-outs?
Yes, for doors that will not close or have jammed with a car trapped inside. Those are security and safety problems, so we attend outside standard hours where a technician is available. Ring and explain the situation. Non-urgent faults such as a noisy roller are better booked for the next working day.

What suburbs do you cover?
Greater Perth, out to about an hour from the Morley base. That runs north to Yanchep, south to Rockingham, east to Mundaring and west to the coast, and takes in the north-east corridor, central Perth, the northern and western suburbs, the Canning and Armadale corridors and the Perth Hills. Inside roughly 30 minutes of Morley, same-day is standard. Further out we still come, and there is still no call-out fee, but ring and we will tell you honestly whether it is today or tomorrow morning.

I searched for a garage door repair near me. How do I know if you cover my street?
Check the service areas page. It lists every suburb we cover, the closest ones with a page of their own and the rest by name with a rough drive time. As a rule, if you are within about an hour of Morley we get to you. If your suburb is not on the list, ring anyway and ask. We would rather tell you in ten seconds that we cannot help than have you keep searching.

Are you an actual garage door repair company or a lead-generation site?
We are the people who turn up. Our own technicians, our own vans, our own tools, working out of Morley. Your call is not sold on to a third party, and the person who quotes the job is the person who does it. That matters more than it sounds: a business that subcontracts your job has no control over when someone arrives or what they charge once they are standing in your driveway.

Can you fix a broken garage door the same day?
Most of the time, yes. Same day garage door repair is what the business is built around: the vans carry springs, cables, rollers, remotes and replacement openers, so the common faults are fixed on the first visit rather than quoted and rebooked. The exceptions are colour-matched panels and a handful of obsolete control boards, which have to be ordered in.

Do you install brand-new garage doors?
No. We are a repair and servicing business only, so we do not supply or install a complete new door. We do replace failed components, including springs, cables, rollers, panels, tracks, remotes and entire opener units. If your door is genuinely beyond repair we will tell you honestly and you can arrange a supplier.
