Car Stuck Behind a Dead Garage Door? We Come Out Today
Emergency garage door repair means getting a jammed, broken or wide-open door back under control the same day, usually within a few hours. The two calls we drop everything for are a door stuck shut with a car behind it, and a door stuck open overnight leaving the house exposed. We carry springs, cables, rollers and common motor gears on the van.

Signs you need this repair
- The door is shut, the car is inside, and you need to leave now
- The door is stuck wide open and the house cannot be secured
- The door dropped without warning and is sitting on the concrete
- The door has come off its track and hangs into the opening
- An attempted break-in has bent the bottom rail or forced the lock
- Storm damage has twisted the door in its guides
What counts as an emergency
Two situations get priority: a door stuck closed with a vehicle behind it, and a door stuck open on a house that cannot be secured. Both leave you with no workable alternative, so they go to the front of the run sheet ahead of routine work.
Doors that have dropped, come off their track, or been damaged in an attempted break-in are the next tier. So is any door hanging at an angle, because those are unstable and can fall without further warning.
A noisy door, a remote that has stopped working, or a door that runs slowly is not an emergency. We would rather book those into a normal slot than charge you for urgency you do not actually need.
Getting you moving today
The van carries torsion and extension springs in the common sizes, lift cables, rollers, hinges, brackets, safety sensors, remotes and drive gear kits for the openers we see most. That is deliberate, because an emergency service that has to come back tomorrow is not much of an emergency service.
If the door cannot be fully repaired in the visit, for example when a section has to be ordered, we make it safe, restore manual operation and secure the opening so the house is not left exposed overnight.
Perth traffic decides how quickly we can get to you. From our Morley base most northern and eastern suburbs are inside a 30 minute drive, and the western and southern runs depend on the time of day. When you ring we will give you a realistic window rather than an optimistic one.
What to do while you wait
Stop using the opener. Every press after a mechanical failure drives the fault further into the door, and it is the single most expensive habit we see on emergency call-outs.
Pull the red emergency release cord to disconnect the motor, but only when the door is fully closed or properly supported. Never pull it on a door held part open, because with a broken spring the door will drop the moment it is released.
Keep people and cars out from under the door, do not try to lift a door that has suddenly become heavy, and do not touch springs, cables or drums. Those hold enough stored energy to cause serious injury.
- Stop pressing the button, it makes the damage worse
- Only pull the release cord on a closed or supported door
- Keep clear of springs, cables and drums entirely
